The Art of The Starfighter

by CL5 Zulin Jinn, AE of Entertainment

Luke Skywalker shot down the Death Star trench in one, Wedge Antilles took out the second Death Star in one, and Anakin Skywalker saved Naboo in one. I am talking about starfighters. Star Wars fans have been waiting a long time to see one in real life and this is their chance. The Smithsonian is sponsoring "Star Wars: Art of the Starfigher," a traveling exhibit.

The exhibit features a life-size, gleaming, yellow N-1 starfighter that was used in Episode 1. The fighter has a 22-foot wingspan and is 35-feet long. The exhibit also includes several other interesting things, featuring a set up where young would-be starfighter pilots can test their skills against each other and the computer in the new game "Star Wars: Starfighter."

The exhibit opened on April 4th, 2001, in Washington, D.C. It is currently in Oakland, California. The tour will last 4 years. So get up and take a look; it could be swinging by you soon. If it comes near you, it will be worth the time to go to it.
