OTF: The Future and Beyond

The Outpost10f is no doubt larger than it was when it first began as a lone chatroom for STAR TREK. We not only have multiple chatrooms with different themes, we also have multiple resources at our fingertips. Perhaps some of the seniors can vouch about how much it has changed, but as a junior officer I can only show a view of the changes that have taken place since early 1999 and the hopes I have for its future.

That may not sound like much to some people, but to an OTF member it is beyond words. Many chatrooms start out with this grand plan of being one of the best on the internet, but are gone within a yea due to loss of

interest or other circumstances that cost the chatroom any chance of achieving its goals at birth. Instead of succumbing to that fate, OTF has grown to different sci-fi genres and has become a resource and entertainment center for its members.

We're coming upon a new year in OTF and that means the fifth anniversary is only months away. Five years this website has been on the internet and active. For some seniors, people who have basically been here from the beginning, it may seem unconceivable. The Outpost10f, in my opinion, is on the eve of an explosion of success. We, the members, have proved it over and over again by keeping OTF at the top of the voting charts.

I believe the people who are here in OTF today are almost pioneers and are lucky to be involved right now. With the announcing of becoming an even larger, global website, we've put ourselves in the position to being the first of the second generation. The first was the website being built and now we're ready to accelerate into the second stage. If you're here today, consider yourself lucky because I feel that we are the base for the new Outpost10f and maybe five years from now, we'll be ready for a new stage.

'Lock and Load'is a relative term in my opinion for the things to come.
