Ohm:
The Outpost's doors are never really closed, though at times it bares repeating to oneself. It's the way I want to remember this past year in any case, in other words to have left possibilities open and to have generated opportunities.
A large part of what the EC should be doing is this, don't you think? I want to know, do you believe we've succeeded this year? We're all friends here, and I've got thick skin, but before you go ahead and answer let me pose another question to you... Indulge me...
Have you wanted to do something, or be a part of something, at the Outpost and not been able to?
This is a question that plagues me personally, as I'm sure it does the other people running projects and helping organise teams out there. Who have we overlooked? What has slipped through the cracks? How have we disappointed others? It happens, has happened and unfortunately is quite likely to reoccur. So what are we doing about it? I really mean the we part in that question to, because I can't answer it by myself.
Enough with the rhetorical nonsense!
On a personal front this has been the most exciting and active year of Outpost activity I've been involved in, mostly for which I blame Tanya our new VC. Some of the chat room functions have been polished up with new features added to the armoury (sadly I can't activate the self destruct sequence every day) and personnel list. An entirely new chat room sprang to life thanks to the collective effort of everyone over in Engineering not to mention tackling the dreaded task of lugging avatars over to Mount Doom! Communications is talking again with Blue Reports, Unions and Yearbooks all vying for our attention and then there's Marketing out busy bringing more attention our way. Even Hydra seems to have kept the Trivia minions happy and managed to prevent all out war with the revivial of simming team. ISA have a new Director, website and members and probably a whole lot more their not telling us. I've even seen Iain tinkering with the server, muttering away about something, I suspect he has plans afoot...
Have I forgotten something, probably!
There have been other talking points of course; where would the Outpost be without the drama, the mistakes and the messes we're all capable of making. There's regret out there, I know, and consequences being faced to. I've also noticed that there's also humility out there, olive branches taken up and a desire to continue growing even if it comes with a few stretch marks. Take my case; I never thought I'd be helping InDev out again when I stepped away from the Outpost. Yet the doors have opened up once again and I've found that for better or worse there's something here I want to be part of.
Perhaps you do to?
