Movie Review-Black Hawk Down

by Lt. Cmdr. Zulin

Black Hawk Down Leave No Man Behind There are many good movies out there today. In my mind, there is none better than Black Hawk Down. This based on real events war movie will keep you on the edge of your seat. Black Hawk Down could be the best movie of the year.
Black Hawk Down takes you to back Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, in 1993. Warlord Mohammed Farrah Aidid has control of the city. His Militia seizes United Nations food shipments at the port, starving his people. The U.S. sends task force Ranger to remove Aidid and restore order. Task Force Ranger consists of 120 Delta force special operations troops, and Ranger infantrymen. The movie is based on a 1-hour mission to capture 2 of Aidid’s top lieutenants that went stale. The mission turned from complete order, to total chaos when the first Black Hawk went down. And that is when the 1-hour mission turned into an 18-hour street fight, with the Americans leaving no man behind.
Josh Hartnett is absolutely stellar in this film. He plays a young Sergeant who is forced into command of a ranger ‘chalk’. His use of emotion when one of his men goes down makes the tough sergeant look human. Another note able actor was Tom Sizemore. Sizemore played the role of all business ranger Colonel McKnight. William Fitchner plays Delta Commander Sergeant Sanderson. The Acting in Black Hawk down was absolutely superb.
Loaded with Drama, Action, and thrills that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the better part of 3 hours. In the year 2002, Black Hawk Down could be the best film.
