Pictures, Pictures Everywhere!

Article by Richard Smith

As we look at another Team this month we again talk with Lzrman, this time about the Outpost10F Yearbook project. This labor (labour) of love came back into the spotlight last year and the team working in the 2010 edition is looking to make this one better than ever.

BR: So tell us about the Outpost10F Yearbook, what's it like?

Lzrman: The Outpost10F Yearbook is a collection of Member Pictures, Chatsaves and Interviews that record the happenings of that Year.

BR: When does planning begin?

Lzrman: Planning began a little bit late this year compared to last, as I wanted to select a team that was graphically, technically, and visually sound.

BR: Why do we have the yearbook?

Lzrman: We have a yearbook because we want to be able to go back and say what happened in the previous year, and something to recall memories from.

BR: Where does it stand at this point? What have you gotten done so far?

Lzrman: Where it stands at this point is we have a solid design, and a solid back end in programming for the collection of data, I can't say for sure yet about the system we have in place to collect the data, but what I can say is it will be used in future yearbooks to come and it will make it really simple to gather information from the general OTF Community and use it.

BR: Do you have any examples of past yearbooks?

Lzrman: The 2009 yearbook is located here, and the other ones are located on the communications server, to which we plan to move over to the yearbook sub-domain. With a main page located on http://yearbook.outpost10f.com where you can select the year you wish to view.

BR: How is the theme picked?

Lzrman: Generally a theme is picked by the Yearbook Team, we then hash out ideas back and forth on the mailing list. This year I had James Gilfoyle design something and I brough up ideas that I had in previous years that I wanted implemented and we found a nice mix of the two designs.

BR: When is it released?

Lzrman: The release date usually falls on the day of the OTF Anniversary, last year we released it late as the anniversary was pushed back. I would like to release it in the next couple months preferably mid-august, early-september.

BR: What do you need from OTF patrons?

Lzrman: We want your Chatsaves, Your Personal Picture, and soon an Interview, I am looking for personal interviews with Executives, New Senior Managers, Assistant Managers, and Team Leaders to hear how they can change some of the projects under there management.

BR: If someone wants to join the team to help finish the yearbook, how does one get on?

Lzrman: Currently I have enough individuals on the yearbook team, but should anything pop up, I'll put out a call for help.

BR: Anything else for the good of the order?

Lzrman: If anyone has any ideas in what we should add to the yearbook, send me an email at Lzrman@outpost10f.com and I would be happy to entertain, dance or do a jig to any ideas that you may have.
