Updates

There have been changes in the Music Guild staff. I am the new Team Leader (in training) and Roger Smith is the new Assistant Team Leader (also in training).

Unfortunately, we lost one of our best members, Mic Mustaine, as he resigned last month. We will miss his creativity and excellent writing. He wrote fantastic resource articles and biographies. Check them out! Gladly enough we heard from him whilst he was on his travels in Hawaii and Brazil and he's having a blast! We shall indeed miss him greatly.

Halloween

As everyone knows, it's Halloween time! The best way to get into the Halloween mood is to listen to some creepy music. My recommendation would be the Interview with the Vampire soundtrack. The original score is composed by Elliot Goldenthal. Goldenthal does a wonderful job, giving a good amount of weight to the woodwind and brass instruments. However, it is his use of shrill electronic sounds that makes for the creepiest parts of the score. It is most frightening when listening with the lights out! Besides being scary, the music perfectly embodies the mood, emotions, and personalities of the characters of the film.

More about Elliot Goldenthal:

Writes works for orchestra, theatre, opera, ballet, and film

He was a student of Aaron Copeland

Winner of two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards(2003) for his Frida score

Other film scores: A Time to Kill; Heat, Michael Collins, The Good Thief, Batman Forever, In Dreams, Sphere, Batman & Robin, Alien 3, Cobb, Drugstore Cowboy, Fool's Fire, Titus, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
