... or: What I did on my summer vacation

Has it been a year again already? Time does fly when you're having fun, it seems. And a busy year it was too, both for the Outpost and for myself.
Many of the changes that had been bandied about in the last few years were finally implemented, and I have to say good work everyone. This is OTF - The Next Generation, and with the new layouts, chat systems and behind-the-scenes stuff, the sky is definitely the limit for what once was "only" a chatroom. And for those who miss the old look and feel, there's OTF history sites to look at, and "old farts" like me to reminisce about the old days of OTF with. *winks*
Last December, my OTF career took a step sideways when I resigned as Ten Forward Sector Commander, handing the reins over to my erstwhile DSC, Captain Babel. I have to say that he's made a fine work in that position, as I suspected he would. Great job, Captain, carry on!
Meanwhile, I've been engaged in an OTF project that will soon see the light of day. It's still a secret, but I am sure you will be surprised at what my team and I have come up with. While it won't change the face of OTF completely, it will hopefully add a new and exciting facet to it!

During the last year, I was lucky enough to meet many friends from OTF in real life. A trip to the UK last September was great - I met the merrily married Hampsters, the London crowd, Romana and Martin, Jeremy and Dan. Also, the Dutchies payed me a few visits (you know who you are!), and Tom dropped by for a day. Hey, Tom, let's play table footie again sometime soon! *grins*
This is still what makes OTF so special to me personally. Meeting people from all over the world, talking to them, learning about other places, and even getting to visit and have a few drinks with them!

Thanks for taking that picture, Linda!
Even though my personal life took a setback last December, I think the last year on the whole was a pretty good one. Yes, I've grown a year older, and hopefully also a bit wiser, but "live and learn" has always been a motto of mine. And on the whole, as a Captain once said, it's been fun!

Take care, and see you in OTF!
