This past year has been pivotal in shaping the outpost for the future, and for my part, settling my mind on how I felt personally about what I wanted to do here. Each of us EC members has been asked to babble on a bit about what our role is on the outpost and what's been going on during the past year, so here goes .
After spending a rather non-descript year drifting between Internal Development and real life exams, and the two years prior to that in Engineering, I joined the Executive Council in a newly defined role in a newly created Administrative Division in the early stages of the Vision of the Future Plan. I had taken a position without a precedent to follow and not knowing who I would be working with in the new Logistics Division. When it was announced who the core of my team would be I was completely ecstatic! |

So...What happens in this new "Logistics" anyway?
Logistics was initially a division split into two parts, one side primarily dealing with new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), which researched and documented, surprisingly, procedures onboard the outpost, like when there is a troublemaker in the chat, does the ISA officer have precedence over the CL8, what warnings must be given, etc. This side was dealt with by the Policies and Procedures Manager (P&PM) and the Assistant Policies and Procedures Manager (AP&PM). The other side involved organising projects on an outpost-wide scale, especially with the more structured system we were working towards in the Vision Plan. I do this as Projects Manager, and am also Director of Logistics as a whole - representing Logistics on the Executive Council. More recently, we've been increased in number with a new Research Assistant, Technical Assistant and Consultant. A third section has opened in up in the form of the Help Desk primarily run by out Research AKA Help Desk Operator, and the three newer roles help across all three areas. Greater detail can be found in the September Edition of the Tribune! |

Tally ho! Enough of the dry explaining stuff...let's meet...

...The Team! | |
Policies and Procedures Manager: Lucas Brady has been the most fantastic asset to Logistics. As an officer he's been top rate, enthusiastic, witty and a real team player. As a person, he's been exceptionally supportive and a great friend. I would have quit the outpost by now if it had not been for this man. Assistant Policies and Procedures Manager: Sym I don't think there's anyone remotely like Marc who has passed through the outpost. He is a singular oddity. He thinks of different aspects that no one else has conceived, and has the demeanour of a Grecian god. And, let's face it, which other man could carry off pink so successfully? It has been an honour knowing and working with Marc. He is one of the most special people I have had the privilege of meeting (if in a more limited capacity than would be preferable). Research Assistant: Sidne Mwahahaaaaaaa..! Jen! This death commando rocks! Y'wouldn't believe the rate this gal's been trawling through all yer hundreds of Help Desk enquiries..besides being lush, Jen's also been an awesome and fun member of Logistics. I'm keeping this one if I have to go out and get a ball and chain..=P Technical Assistant: Robin Bilney Well. Lucas, cam and I can web design pretty well, actually so can a lot of the staff in Administrations, but our more desky type jobs mean that now doing websites takes a back seat to more managerial kind of things. Robin's been a breath of fresh air in his design and taking this aspect of the load off us. His role this year has been an understated one but not an unappreciated one. In Logistics we have four former Senior Managers out of six members. Part of what I'd like happening in Logistics is for members to get as much exposure as possible in the field that they deal with for the division and in broader areas that their interests may lie in, especially with the amount of experience available to them within Logistics. Robin's been a rock this year and I hope the forays into stuff like dot files and more recently PERL benefit him as well as us. He's also a rather nice ozzie lad, and we like 'em kind over here Consultant: cam Cam is my c-mum. She gets fed up for me and keeps us amused no end..=P She's also really good all round and has a lot of guts. At 19, she's the oldest and the mother of the house..*g* Her internal nickname is "Fats", though I haven't worked out why that is just yet.. I'd say we're a closely knit team and a friendly one. This team is the best one I have ever worked with, and topping my time in CCC Construction takes some doing. They settled my mind that these were the people I wanted to work closest of all with, and there really was a place I could be comfortable in again on the outpost. |
This Year, Next Year...

This year we've been working towards implementing the Vision of the Future Plan from the projects aspect and laying down our first Outpost10F Constitution. At this time a lot of the work has been done, the time for seven am to one the next morning spent on e-mailing is over. However there is much work yet to be done still for Logistics, particularly embarking on the vast set of Standard Operating Procedures that require documentation. We look together towards it steadily, with caution and zeal in equal measure. However we will also be demanding our pound of fun and entertainment along the way |
