Hello's, Goodbyes and Changes:

This past year has been one of change for Communications, partly due to the Vision of the Future Implementation and the new management. Commander Sym has left to join the newly formed Logistics and I've become senior manager. Our Assistant Managers have also changed. Commander Sorsha, who sent me the promotions (as it was then known) email suggesting I visit outpost10f.com, has left us.

CL5 Hans and Harry have both stepped down from their positions, but we've also had a few new additions to our family like CL5 Zahra who is leading the yearbook team. There have been a few more welcome additions including CL4 Qatt, CL4 Robert Griffith, CL6 Dominic and CL5 Monny.

One of the biggest changes to the department has been our step back from actively promoting the Outpost via email and guestbook signing. Instead we have focused our efforts into providing a service to Outpost members in keeping them up to date with important information and dates within the community via the Outpost10f.com Calendar, the Announcement & Updates, The Unions and Convention Pages. The Shuttlebay and Awards team isn't really a new thing to the Communications Department but its a useful service for those looking for the best site in their genre of interest (i.e. Sci fi) and it enables the outpost to generate goodwill with other sci fi sites through the Awards team.

Projects:

Communications doesn't have the number of projects that some of the other departments have. However we take pride in what we do have. The Unions Page, a brand new project is being very successfully managed my CL5 Lzrman.
The Awards project which was re-released not to long ago and works in conjunction with the Shuttlebay not only introduces Outpost members to some excellent sci fi sites, it also shows that we (Outpost10f.com) ARE interested in other sites out there and do appreciate what other people are doing.
The Conventions Site has been updated and has two permanent project members working on it. There may also be a new look in the future so keep an eye out on it.

Communication's two major projects are The Tribune and The Yearbook. The Tribune has been through some major changes lately which I hope you all approve of and will continue to develop as time goes on.
The Yearbook is a yearlong effort, which involves months and months of planning then a very short time implementing! But if you're reading this report then I'm sure you've realised that it's all been worth it. We can start planning next years book now! *EG*

All our current projects can be found Here

Awards:

Communications has sadly been a bit lackadasical in its presentations of monthly awards. A situation that I hope to remedy in the near future. It doesn't mean that we do not value the work of our members, I appreciate the effort each of them makes for the communications department.

For the Anniversary however I did but some thought into issuing some awards and the result is the following:

Firstly to CL5 Amanda Sielu Paris and CL5 Lzrman_ for Excellence. Both of them work very hard week in week out to make sure their respective projects are being updated and running smoothly.

Next I would like to award Cl4 Shyva and CL4 Robert Griffith for dedication to duty. Shyva has spent a lot of time working on the interviews which you will get to see soon! *G*. Robert hasn't been in communications for all that long, but he has produced some consistently excellent pieces of writing for the tribune. Long may it continue!

Finally I would like to issue the Communications Member of the Year to CL6 SuzyQ. Suzy has been unbelievable the past year both in her role as Assistant Manager and as a Designer, we a lot of the new Tribune design (which we will be unveiling next month) to her and CL7 Tierce. This is just my small way of saying thank you.

Many thanks to Katy Whitton for making them!
