We had alot of conventions this last month, as well as quite a few that will be taking place within the next month.
At the very beginning of last month we had GenghisCon in Western Australia. Next we had Redemption '03 which was a Blakes 7 and Babylon 5 convention. It took place in Ashford England. Guests there were Chris Boucher, editor of Blake's 7; Damian London, who played the Centauri Regent in B5; Mike Collins, who contributed art to B5; and Tanith Lee, who wrote two episodes of Blake's 7.
In London on the 22 of February, there was An Evening With Keith Hamilton Cobb, Tyr Anasazi of Andromeda. After this Creation Entertainment held a Star Trek and Buffy convention in Seattle, Washington from the 28 of February - 2 of March. Guests here were Robert Picardo, The Doctor; Ethan Phillips, Neelix; James Marsters, Spike of Buffy; Roxann Dawson, B'lanna
Torres; as well as James Leary, Clem of Buffy. Also there was a Dr. Who convention called Invasion 3 that took place in the UK. Guests there were William Russell and Tony Selby.
Next there was Galaxy Con which started on the 7th of March and ends on the 9th. This science fiction/horror convention is in Baltimore, Maryland and just a few of the guests are Laura Bertram, Trance Gemini of Andromeda; Raelee Hill, Sikozu Shanu of Farscape; Kyra Schon of the original Night of the Living Dead; and Richard Manning, an episode writer of Farscape, TNG, and Sliders.
Lastly we had Ringcon. This fantasy convention took place in the U.S from the 21 - 23 of February. In fact, I was able to get a summary from an OTF patron, CL4 Rage, that attended the convention:
"Going to Ringcon was a great experience for me. Not only did I get to meet other Rings fans like myself, there were also many attractions in the downstairs rooms--like the Seattle Knights (a group of people who dressed up in elaborate costumes and demonstrated different medieval fighting styles), Caramir trivia (obviously, Lord of the Rings trivia), and many many celtic music groups. And up on the second floor, after stepping out of the elavator operated by an Elf, there were tons of different shops set up in the bedrooms--there
were about 5 or so different costume shops (mostly dresses, but there were also a few shops and specialized in leather clothes), a few jewelry and sword shops, and even one that specialized in making chain mail shirts and bracelets!
Then there was the Guest of Honor, Brad Dourif (who played Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings), who talked about an hour and a half, and then started taking autographs. In conclusion, my personal favorite was Nero Seattle, a roped-in area outside where you can fight with a friend using duct tape swords!"
To start the list of upcoming conventions in the month of March and the first of April we have the convention Star One in the UK on the 15 & 16. It's a Blake's 7 convention with guests being Steven Pacey, Paul Darrow, Scott Fredericks, Sally Knyvette, Jan Chappell, and Jacqueline Pearce.
Next up there will be the fantasy/Sci-Fi/LARP convention Stormie-Con. It will be taking place from March 14 - 16 in St. Louis Missouri. A few of the guests here will be M.R. Sellars, Phil Morrissey, Jason Carter, and Richard Biggs.
Then taking place on March 28 - 30 will be the Sci-Fi convention Starfury: Ascendant in London, England. The following guests and more will be there: Dina Meyer, Starship Troopers, Dragonheart, Johnny Mnemonic, and more; Laura Bertram, Trance Gemini of Andromeda; Anthony Simcoe, the Luxan warrior Dargo of Farscape; and Marc Singer, Dar of The Beastmaster and Mike Donovan of V.
Finally the Sci-Fi and Horror convention Chiller Fest, also in London, will be on March 22 & 23. A few of the guests that will be attending this are Scott Scgwartz, Doug Bradley, Simon Bamford, Valerie Leon, Caroline Munro, and Warwick Davis.
That does it for this month's conventions arcticle. Now don't forget to
