A Thousand Posts from Nowhere

Earlier this month, I reached what some said was a milestone for the Outpost. I was the first member to surpass one thousand posts on our still relatively new ikonboard forums. A thousand posts is a lot, when you pause to think about it. Considering that the forums were introduced only nine months ago; anyone having a thousand posts would have to have replied at least five times a day to have achieved such an amount. A lot can be said with a thousand posts. A lot of people can laugh, cry, smile, or shake their fist at each and every word it takes to make it that far. I did it, too, I made one thousand, and I did it first. It seems that so many people were so proud of me that I even received an award! And a rank, too! Aren't I something?

No, not really. If I were something, or someone, to be more precise, I'd have been like Anth and Jadzia, or like Zilette, or like any number of people. A lot of people threw a lot of confetti my way without even thinking about who really makes it possible for myself, or anyone for that matter, to have this many posts. The people who have made a thousand posts possible are the people who have created the successful threads. I have only created one successful thread, and that was back in early December, barely a month after the forums were created. It spread to nine pages, the longest, up until that point, for a thread.

Anth and Jadzia have created, gosh, a dozen or more threads with such inventive subjects about them. Who would have ever thought a forum, more especially one from the Outpost, could be used in such a way? Zilette has created dozens upon dozens of wonderful, thoughtful, fun threads that I've not only enjoyed reading, but replying to as well. It has been thanks to them, and to anyone else who has created a thread that has beared those fun replies, that I owe this award to.

If anything, the forums have taught me that fun can still be alive in the Outpost. In a time where many doubt the longevity of this establishment, I believe that if we treat the people we have right, we will be okay. I look forward to many more fun threads, many more "enuf said"'s, and to the road ahead! So have fun, kick back, and don't worry about stepping on toes. The best fun is usually at someone's expense, and guys, I'm paying!
