July Star Trek Stuff:

This month we decided to look at what was happening in the great big literaty world of Star Trek. There are, of course, lots of things to read, but our friends at amazon.com have some new books for us to try! First off, there is a great little book called Star Trek Crosswords, Book 1. Its featured as part of the amazon.com summer blowout sale so the price is right. Just $8.76 US and qualifies for free shipping. It's a slim book, only 64 pages, but if you are a Trek afficiando, are bored with summer and think you can beat the system, why not give it a try? If nothing else, it probably has some obscure Questions and answers that would give you an advantage at the next Trivia night in Ten Forward.

Next, there is a new hardcover called "Genesis Source by John Vornholt, who has had quite the career writing in Gene Roddenberry's universe. This book is a sort of sequel of the Genesis Wave trilogy and he pulls the whole thing together into one heck of a book, at least according to the reviews I have read so far.

This one is based on the old Genesis Wave which I am sure we all remember from the movies. Yeah, the movies had their lame moments, but for the real fan, maybe this will intrigue you *winks at Robert Griffith and hopes he has time for this series in the next 6 months*. So, based on what the amazoners have to say, this one might just get your attention.

Last, but surely not least, they are throwing out a new TNG book, Do Comets Dream?, This one involves a rogue comet, an exotic culture, and alot of new characters that are invented and then, it seems, discarded. The kicker in this one is that the comet that is the focal point of the book, according to Troi, is alive! Hmmm, interesting concept, and almost intriguing enuf to make me order the darn thing.

Will be interested in hear ing what our loyal Library readers and reviews have to say about this new stuff, and as always, look for Star Trek reviews to kick-start the Library back into the forefront of OTF member participation. Come on you Ten Forward members - have you read a good Star Trek book lately??
