Officer Profile

Beloved! I'm very proud to present you the June edition of the Officer's Profile, your source to find out something you might never wanted to know about a specific person. This month, a very special member of Ten Forward will let you know how he thinks about work, his career and the whole TF thing. Let Michiel "entertain" you.

How did you reach Ten Forward?

Michiel: I was looking for information on things from Star Trek that were once science fiction, and now reality for a school project, and after a little searching I thought I'd try and find a Star Trek chatroom and ask around. So I searched for "Star Trek Chatroom" with altavista and TF showed around the top of the list. After that I just sorta stuck around. *L*

So you are affilated with Star Trek?

Michiel: No, I used to be, but being one of the people who built Alder Hill, I changed my affiliation to Fantasy as soon as Alder Hill was opened.

Why did you choose entertainment as your department? Are you not interested in any other?

Michiel: I used to be in R&D since a few months after I joined OTF about four and a half years ago, then that merged with Engineering and I was a member of that department right up until i was offered the position of 2nd AM of Entertainment, and I already had some experience in Entertainment because I had been Alder Hill Loremaster Liaison in Entertainment for a few months, and knew that it would be a good position for me.

What made you change from R&D to Entertainment especially?

Michiel: Like I said, I participated in creating Alder Hill, both the chatroom itself and the fantasy world it is based on, and I'd been working on that with the other members of the Alder Hill team for about one and a half years, so you can imagine that it means a lot to me, more than Star Trek. ;)

Looking back what are the accomplishments you're proud of and could you share some of your favorite Ten Forward moments?

Michiel: Well the single most important project I ever worked on has to be Alder Hill, of course, I also worked on a few smaller projects before, none of which exist anymore, be it in their original shape or at all (Avatar Central was turned into part of the Senior's Playground for example). The best TF moments were usually conversations, of course, the tricky thing about my memory is that I remember having good times, but not remember exactly what they were about.*L*

Any special friends in TF? Who, and why?

Michiel: Oh, plenty, I'd not want to single out anyone because that leaves others neglected, and none of them deserve that. But there are a few people who mean very much to me, and I thank them for being there for me. :)

What do you forsee in the future for Entertainment and where would you personally like to see it go?

Michiel: About Entertainment, I don't see it change much in the near future. In its current form it's doing very good, and it may expand on many things, but it'll genrally remain the same I should think.

How fast did you become member of a department? Did you make something special, anything to tell our Juniors to get promoted sooner?

Michiel: Hmm, a couple of months after joining, it wasn't that difficult as it is now - back then because there were a lot less members, I suppose. ;) And what must have played a part in my promotion to CL5 was building Avatar Central, a project I created myself completely, from concept to the eventual site, I think.

Avatar Central? What's that?

Michiel: It was basically a database of custom avatarars, seperate catagories like Dr. Who, OTF Members, etc. Since it was something only seniors could use, it was adopted by the Senior's Playground. At the end, the usual thing: Any words of wisdom, shoutouts, thanks you'd like to say?

Michiel: Well, in that order, "don't worry", "hi guys!", "thanks guys!" ;)

There it is! Michiel or PeeVee or whatever, giving me permission to do as she pleases with this interview, and it just so happens that it's for the June Tribune ;). Please don't forget to join us again, and thanks for your interest.
