This month of August we have an interview of another one of own Poetry Guild community members, Robert Griffith, who has been in 10f community for quite a while and has made a success in the Poetry Guild.

To check out his interview and one of his award winning poems go to our Community poet. Don't forget to check out his poem Too Many Secrets

We had a record number of entries this month. We broke our own record and had a whopping 23 in all. So we thank all of our wonderful members for their participation for without you we would not exist. A Community is only as good as its members and their participation.

Look forward to the September's contest which has an Open Theme. The Deadline is September 21, 2003.

The Poetry Guild is also doing a Resources section for budding poets.. this is getting underway and we hope to have some interesting Resource articles coming up pretty soon.

To give you a taste of what we have in miind here is a small sample written by Hal Horn on Haiku Poetry:

"Haiku has origins as far back as the 16th century. Its basis being founded in mostly Japan and was originially used for spiritual influences by the Taoist symbolism of the oriental mystics. Haiku poetry typically has 3 lines and 17 syllables, distributed in a 5/7/5 format. Most uniformed Haiku has references to nature, color, seasons, and contrasts in life. Haiku poetry, unlike others forms of poetry relies mostly on meditation, instead of inspiration for its body."

Look out for more in-depth articles in the future. Don't forget our Annual Awards for Poetry Guild coming up this month at the Ceremonies. Who will be the Poet of the Year 2003? Could it be YOU!
