Jan is on personal leave at the moment so I will be filling in here
at Web Development Guild which I will scrunch down the name to WDG.
Many still seem to not know the purpose of the WDG since all the other
Guilds seem to be so obvious. Music, Artists', Actors', Writers, Film,
Poetry, they are so self explanatory. So what is WDG?
The Guilds creation and original concept came from a
16 year old High School student named Raederle (who is now about to
graduate from college). She was an aspiring writer and artist and
wasn't even in the Counseling Department - just helped us out on
projects like Holidays etc. But she came to me with this idea...and
from that branched all of the Guilds. However, this Guild was not in
the original concept.
The idea for this Guild came from none other than Joshua Hal. He came
to me and said "Hey Z - you have a place for all the membership to
contribute and be recognized but what about those that
work behind the scene. The engineers, graphic artists, java script,
cgi, perl, and all the computer languages. Can't you fix a place for
them to be recognized?" Well I heard him loud and clear and so we
proceeded to build what was known as the Programmers' Guild and was just recently
renamed WDG.
The reasoning behind the name change was to showcase more than just programmers and was to include all those that make our pages work including htmlers. So that is how this came to be. Just another history lesson from the Guilds.
Eggburt has just been made Assistant Project Leader to WDG and will be pursuing some new concepts to spotlight famous web developers that are known on the world wide web for their contributions to web design. One of our first targetswill be David Griffith who is know for his water applet, etc. In addition, Eggburt will be developing some other new ways to give you, the members of OTf, a more personal contact with those that work behind
the scenes, our builders.
So take a look at the interviews we have so far. You will see this is a special group of people in a different light and we hope that they will help inspire you to get involved on a deeper level. At the Web Development Guild, you will see how they became so involved and contribute their services to the community. That graphic you see..... that is the
heart and soul of an aritst, maybe not a portrait....maybe not a landscape but a vital part of the creation process that goes into the sites we show the world. Come and visit our Web Development Guild and support and honor those that give so much of their time to
create the place we call OTF.
