I am going to totally depart from OTF business this month *hears the membership gasp in shock* and write about absolutely nothing that is really important to anyone except me. At this point, you can push the "delete" button, or read on and be amused, amazed, have a giggle or want to throw a rock. Whatever floats your boat - its' November and we all need a break (personally I'd settle for a Caribbean vacation, all expenses paid).

As I am sure you know, I has surgery to my left shoulder in September, so I have been one armed-ish for about 8 weeks. Interesting what you can and can't do with just one arm when you live alone. The hardest thing - pulling on jeans and socks and boots. Also, unloading the dishwasher cause you can't reach and lift with both hands, and blowdrying hair that is long. Of course, its kinda nice to go to the grocery and people offer to help, doors get opened, people don't butt in line in front of peeps with their arm in a sling. It is getting better - I have a physical therapist who is realted to Grand Moff Tarkin; "no pain-no gain". I will be just fine by January, thank you very much :)

I QUIT SMOKING! Sorry, didn't really mean to shout (yes I did) but its been 8 weeks and my boss hasn't asked me to leave the building yet, I have NOT gained 20 pounds and I still have my fingernails and my friends. I am rather proud of myself.

My dear cat Spock (named after we all know who) was diagnosed with Cancer recently. He is 11 1/2 years old and a big, dumb, scared-of-everything, grey tabby who wouldn't hurt a fly. I don't know how long he will be with me, but the thought of dragging him off to local university Veterinary Feline Oncology Specialist (didn't know they had those) so they could do chemotherapy and radiation and maybe amputate his leg doesn't appeal to me. So we will spend the winter by the fire, watch lots of cartoons on the tv (one of his favorite things to do) and wait till its time to go to kitty heaven. I hope when its my time, it will be as easy as I hope to make it for him. Yeah, I know, he's just a cat, but he's MY cat :)

The garden is just about dead. I have totally enjoyed my first season as a home-owning gardner here in south Georgia where we have dirt and grass, not gravel and cactus. There are jars of tomatos that I have "put up" in the pantry, green beans in the freezer, and lots of frozen pesto from the 8 big basil plants to get me through the winter months. Hope the rosemary and the oregano make it thru till March - we'll see how my roses do, and spring will be here soon.

All in all, with work, OTF Marketing and admin stuff, the Tribune and the Library, and this silly shoulder, its been an interesting month - personally, I am really glad October is over and done with. November is the time for friends, getting the house ready for the holiday season, lots of good stuff to cook, books to read and movies to see. My first Christmas in my own home - not a bad thing to look forward to methinks ):

So, there you have it, an odd editorial. Kinda like "What I Did on My Summer Vacation" a couple months late. Any comments - send them on - I am always good for a laugh at my own expense.

*Waves, tosses leftover Halloween candy to the masses and poofs to the Library basement*
