Well, November turned out to be an odd month. As you all know, I have been serving as Acting Sector Commander for the last couple of months while Babel was working with Engineering. It was planned that by the end of November, he would be returning to his duties; instead, Babel surprised us all by announcing his retirement! While I can certainly understand his need to concentrate on real-life issues, it saddened me personally to lose a great boss and mentor. Fortunately, Babel didn't leave the community so we still have him around to entertain us! Our best wishes go out to him in his future endeavors. With Babel's retirement, the Admirals have honored me by appointing me as Sector Commander. I look forward to the challenge and opportunity to work for you.

Outpost 10F had a total of 244 new registered members in November, of that total 108 registered in the Star Trek genre -- Welcome to all of you!

Looking forward into December, which is my favorite time of the year, there are many exciting events on the horizon! One of these that I know all you Trek fans are eagerly anticipating is the release of "Star Trek: Nemesis" beginning in North America on December 13th. To celebrate the tenth movie in the Star Trek saga, the Outpost will be having several special events during the weekend of December 13-15! Special "Nemesis" avatars courtesy of Babel, TNG-related trivia competitions, special activities from gaming, and more are planned. So mark your calendars for that weekend and plan to celebrate with us -- stay tuned to the Departmental Updates Board for exact times. I'm looking forward to it and hope to see YOU there!

As we move into the holiday season, I hope each of you enjoy your break from school and/or work, time with family, and any traditions you celebrate.
