*In a Dr. Nick voice from 'The Simpson's'* Hello every-body! *waves and goes back to
his normal voice* The topic for this month's article was suggested by Robert Griffith. Actually, he
told Kali'Dor that he was a member of the www.williamshatner.com bulletin board, and she then suggested
it to me. As you can see, I accepted. This meant that I'd have more time devoted to searching the site
and writing the article, which I am now filling up with this. By the way, before I start the article,
the fact that Robert is a member of the bulletin board, doesn't mean I'm not going to express my own
opinions. Now for the site write up.
The site I'm reviewing this month is WilliamShatner.com. As you can probably guess, it's the
official site for William Shatner, the actor who portrayed Captain Kirk on the original 'Star Trek'.
There is quite a bit on the site to look at and to do. There's a message board, as previously mentioned,
where both Bill and Lisabeth, his daughter, post messages. Both of them also have their own spaces on
the site where they post stuff. In addition, there is a store, a fan club, a links page, and a gallery.
Some things require an account with the site to use them, so beacause of this, I'll only do a review
of the places I can go to.
The people on the bulletin board seem like quite nice people. The stuff I have seen on the
site is quite good. The posts that Bill and Lisabeth do in their respective spaces are good, sometimes
funny accounts of what they've done, or taken part in, such as the "Splatt Attack" paintball tournament
that Bill did for charity.
The site links to a fan club dedicated to William Shatner, called Shatner and Friends
International (SFI). Seeing this abbreviation, I believed it to be a link to StarFleet International,
the first fan club site that I reviewed, but alas, it was not meant to be.
Anyway, in my humble opinion, the site seems okay, but I wouldn't have reviewed it had it not
been suggested to me, as it wouldn't have come on my fan club searches. This is because my method
involve inputting "(sci-fi thing) fan club" into various search engines, so there. I quite enjoyed
looking around the site, as it didn't seem too taxing to find everthing, and the stuff I read was funny
at times. So go and be merry if you like Bill Shatner, and if you don't, go and be merry too!
If any of you, the readers, have any suggestions for any fan clubs/sites for me to review, send
me an e-mail, (my email address is in my dossier) and give me a good reason to review the site. The
person who gives me the best reason will win what ever is in my pockets at the time.
