We have things to get to in the Blue Report from the last couple months, so let’s dive right in.
Back on November 11th, it was reported that the trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse” would be attached to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Did you see it? And did you see the 2015 Doctor Who Christmas special at home, or did you see that in the theater as well – because you had that option, as a fan.
Also in early November, it was reported that there would be more Star Trek coming to the small screen in 2017 – that is, wherever you have your computer, premiering on the subscription-based CBS All Access. And more recently, as of February 9th, it was revealed that Bryan Fuller, who has a history with the franchise, will be serving as the showrunner for the next installment.
The fan film “The Four Year War: Prelude To Axanar” took a
potential hit, in the form of a lawsuit by the powers that be in charge of "Star Trek" as a whole. As of February 13th, a petition that can be found at The
Blue Report still needed 3400 signatures in support of the film’s venturing
forward.
Patrick Stewart said in an interview that he would don
uniform again and portray Captain Picard “if the script was good”, and
nominated his son Daniel to portray a younger version of the captain, if it was
needed.
January 10th brought news that Kevin Smith would
direct an episode of “The Flash”. A few days later a trailer for a new movie
was revealed – and that the movie will be a sequel to “Cloverfield.”
Is there anyone in the Lexington area looking for a
convention to go to? And maybe write up something for the Blue Report about it?
Lexington Comic and Toy Con on March 11-13 might be something you should look into.
Celebrities scheduled to be at the event include Fifth, Sixth and Seventh
Doctor actors Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, as well as new
series companion actress Karen Gillan. Appearing along with them will be Star Trek actors
Brent Spiner and Denise Crosby, as well as Adrienne Wilkinson from the Tim Russ
film “Star Trek: Renegades”.
On January 20th, it was announced that the cinema
release date for Star Wars Episode VIII would be pushed back from May 2017 to
December 2017. A few days later, “The X-Files” revival premiered, and ratings
were “out of this world.” And the last two things of note – “Star Trek” actor
Chris Pine weighed in on the upcoming “Wonder Woman” movie, and Tom Welling
addressed the possibility of portraying Superman on the new “Supergirl” TV
show.
