The Blue Report on Facebook was once again a hotbed for activity, from the worlds of Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Star Trek and more.
July started with a report from EW.com, with first look images of your favorite Walking Dead characters from Season 6 of the show. Things look to be shaping up pretty well there. Another article promises “multiple threats” for the show’s main characters for the upcoming season.
Then the BBC released an image of Peter Capaldi as The Doctor at San Diego Comic Con, as he and his TARDIS drop into a warzone. There was an article that teased the upcoming season in a more in-depth way. Switching universes but staying with Comic Con, you can buy your own Star Trek-style communicator. No, really! Shop.StarTrek.com is taking pre-order requests for their Bluetooth Communicators for $150.
On July 8th, rumors hit the web that Marisa Tomei had been cast as Aunt May in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Staying with comics for a moment, Mark Hammill has been confirmed as The Joker in the upcoming “Batman: The Killing Joke" animated movie.
The next day, the BBC brought Whovians a trailer for the new season, which premieres on September 19th. Included in the trailer is Maisie Williams as a character who apparently has a pre-existing relationship with The Doctor, as she asks, “What took you so long, old man?” Also, if you didn’t see the 2-part finale, “Dark Water/Death In Heaven”, you can watch it in theaters on September 15th and 16th in select theaters, with a prequel/prelude to Season 9.
A week later, Tatiana Maslany got her long-awaited Emmy nod for her amazing work as clone “sisters” on BBC’s Orphan Black. This was followed by new footage of the upcoming X-Files limited series, and news that The Lone Gunmen would be part of the show once more.
And just a few days ago from the universe that was Gene Roddenberry’s brainchild, Tim Russ directed a movie called “Star Trek: Renegades”, set a decade afterVoyager returned home from the Delta Quadrant, and after the Hobus star exploded, destroying the Romulan homeworld (in the prime universe). And now that NASA has brought us new pictures of “is it a planet or not” Pluto, it would seem that some of it’s geographical features may bear names inspired by Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who, my favorite being the “Vader Crater.”
And that just about wraps up the news. If you’re reading
this and you find something of note, you can submit it to the Blue Report on
Facebook page.
