So
ever since I found out this movie was coming out, I've wanted to see it. I was
too young to see the groundbreaking first movie of the series when it came out
and Jurassic Park III was just horrible on so many levels that there was
nowhere to go but up. So it was with a certain amount of anticipation that I
went to see Jurassic World.
The
basic plot of the movie is that John Hammond's Dream of a Dinosaur theme park
comes true after so many failed attempts. Visitors enjoy the park and it's
wonders, but te park wants to continue to attract new visitors, so they turn to
genetic hybrids to up the wow factor and this is when things go wrong....
obviously. Dinosaurs get out, the body count rises, and those in charge have to
find a way of stopping it. There are a number of subplots along the way that
just add to the story. I don't want to give too much away.
So
what did I like. I enjoyed how the story referenced the first film. It was
pretty cool to see what the park might have looked like had Hammond's dream
been realized. Most of the characters were well written, the action was good
and not over used. The Dinosaurs were great and I'm glad that the film makers
used several different species than those of the 3 movies prior. The story
moved along at a good place and you couldn't predict what was next.
Some of the downsides..well it does have some cannon issues, but honestly what sequel doesnt. I really wasn't fond of the character played by Ty Simpkins. In my opinion they could have done without the character. He was too whiny and emotional. Other than that I was a pretty happy camper. By the way, you dont really need to see this one in 3D. If that is your preference, go for it, but I didn't see the need after I had seen the 3D version.
If you haven't seen this yet, go check it out! This is a good movie for teens on up and I will definitely be adding this to my DVD collection when it hits store shelves. My take, I am giving Jurassic World 4.5 Outposts out of 5 for Watchability. Enjoy the Flicks!
