Blue Report On Facebook

Article by Paulie

The Blue Report was once again a hub of activity, brought together to bring you, our faithful readers, news from your favorite alternate universes.

Back in early May, there was a YouTube video announcing the upcoming greenlit seasons of Red Dwarf.

A day later, sad news came from the "Star Trek" universe, as we learned of the passing of Grace Lee Whitney who portrayed Janice Rand. Her character, the captain's yeoman, was seen in the first season of the original series, as well as four of the six original movies, the "Voyager" episode "Flashback" where she had risen to the rank of Commander, and joked with Tuvok about trying to curry favor with Captain Sulu. She also visited the character of Janice Rand in the fan productions "New Voyages" and "Of Gods And Men". I'll be attending a Star Trek convention in Chicago on June 12th, and I hope to engage George Takei and Tim Russ in a discussion about the "Voyager" episode that the trio filmed together.

After that came two consecutive reports from the Marvel cinematic universe. The first involved  Martin Freeman of "Sherlock" and "The Hobbit", having been cast in "Captain America: Civil War", in an as yet unspecified role. The article that followed served to flesh out the cast of "Civil War", which will include The Vision, War Machine, Ant Man, General "Thunderbolt" Ross, Black Panther, Crossbones and Sharon Carter/Agent 13.

The next article came from another universe filled with average people with superpowers - NBC's "Heroes". Greg Grunberg, who voiced young Jim Kirk's stepdad in the "Star Trek" reboot in 2009, and has an unspecified role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", has confirmed that he signed on for the "Heroes Reborn" miniseries as police officer Matt Parkman.

Michael B. Jordan, who has been cast in "The Fantastic Four" reboot, addresses the studio's decision and fan reaction to cast a person of color, namely himself, as Johnny Storm, The Human Torch.

Next came a cleverly edited video of clips from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" to give Commander William Riker a spinoff, but not as captain of the Titan.

TIME.com features an article on an office building in China that was designed to resemble a Federation starship.

Karen Gillan, of "Doctor Who" and "Guardians Of The Galaxy" was interviewed by a pint-size YouTuber in an 8-minute video.

And lastly, David Duchovny was quoted as saying that after all their hard work behind the scenes in bringing back an "X-Files" miniseries, reading the first page of the first script brought tears to his eyes.
