On Screen Movie Review

Article by Richard Smith

Cause makes coincidence for the month's On Screen Movie Review. I took my kids to the moves once again and this time we went to see Home. The recent Dreamworks offering was a pretty delightful movie. Don't get me wrong, I am more into the substance and storytelling, but this was a good bit of fun.

The story revolves around the Boov and their search for a planet to inhabit. They are being chased by their ememy, the Gorgs, the Boov happen upon Earth. They invade, albeit in a non-hostile way and move all the humans to a singe part of the globe, while the Boov live in the Cities.

One of the Boov named Oh is a klutz and while planning a party, which none of his fellow Boov want to attend, he accidentally send his invite to everyone, including the Gorgs. Needless to say Oh ends up on the run. While all of this is going on a teen girl nicknamed Tip is searching for her mom who was relocated during the initial takeover leaving her behind. When a Boov comes to live in her house she ends up on the run too. After a series of humorous bumbles oh both their parts, Tip and Oh end up together on the run. Tip makes Oh promise to help he find her mom and the set off together.

After spending some time with one another, Tip warms to Oh and Oh realizes that what the boov did to the human was wrong. Does it all work out in the end? You'll just have to see the movie to find out.

Home would be a fun night out or a good afternoon with the kids. I found the story to be a genuine tale of redemption. the actors including Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, and Rhianna do a nice job in making you feel for their characters. The plot wasn't overly sappy, but a good mix of adventure and feeling. A good mix for kids and adults alike. We really enjoyed it. I wouldn't have seen it without my kids, but I can say that Home will be added to our DVD collection when it's released. With that in mind, I am giving Home 4 Outposts out of 5. Check t out if you get the chance.
