Diving into the Archives

Article by Richard Smith

Ever wonder what the outpost was like way back when? There is a way to find out. Communications Department recently revived the Archives Team and is currently going through the process of inventorying and indexing everything contained there in. If you never seen the archives I can't say I blame you. It's been one of the Outpost's best kept secrets. We'd like to make it more accessable so the Blue Report decided to sit down with the new Archives Team Leader, Mr. Numbers.

BR: Tell some of our newer members what Archives is all about.

MN: Archives is a team whose main focus is to preserve the past for the future.

BR: What are some of the thing you can find right now?

MN: Chat saves, records of anniversary , links to Yearbooks. More to come

BR: So tell us why you decided to move from Unions Team to Archives?

MN: I realized a couple months ago that my life was about to pick up. My wife and I were about to get a 3rd child, we were going to move. I wanted to move to something a bit less demanding.

BR: How are you going to collect things to be added?

MN: We’ll get submissions from people via forums and emails to add to the site as we move along.

BR: Who determines what can be added to the archive?

MN: As Team Leader I’ll look at it and make sure there’s nothing bad on it. If it’s “family friendly” and we got a category for it, it’ll be added.

BR: What are some of the things that you’ve found to include so far?

MN: I’ve been debating Trivia Results along with promotion results. Haven’t really sat down and thought about it yet.

BR: Are you looking to put together a full team to help with the work?

MN: Currently there’s myself as Team Leader. Still looking for an Assistant Team Leader, also have the awesome Ewok CL7 Soka.

BR: Are you going to be revamping the current site or will you start new?

MN: I’m debating a new but currently we’ll stick with what we got. No sense in reinventing something that still works just fine.

BR: How can someone get involved or put forward something archive worthy?

MN: Before the weekend is over I’ll make a forum thread where people can email stuff or share ideas with myself and others so the place can grow.

BR: How can the OTF community help?

MN: Do chat saves of anything super funny or cool and don’t be afraid to share it.
